IONOS is creating Europe's leading data-sovereign cloud, offering businesses a secure and reliable alternative. We're looking for a passionate software engineer to join our Big Data Products Cloud team and help us build the powerful data platforms our customers love.

This is a senior role for someone who loves to code and solve complex challenges. As a Staff Engineer at IONOS, your influence goes beyond just writing code — you'll help shape our technical direction, mentor other engineers, and elevate the entire team. If you enjoy collaborating on tough problems and have a strong background in Go, we would love to talk to you.

Tasks

• Collaborate on building our Big Data platform: You'll play a vital role in designing, developing, and operating our data analytics and streaming PaaS services.
• Write high-quality, scalable code in Go: Your work will serve as an example of best practices for building robust, cloud-native systems.
• Work deeply with Kubernetes: You'll use your experience to help us build and run our services, including the opportunity to design and implement custom Kubernetes operators and controllers.
• Solve interesting problems: From ensuring high availability to optimizing performance, you'll tackle the complex challenges inherent in distributed data systems.
• Help our customers succeed: You'll grow into a go-to person for our data services, guiding both internal and external teams on how to best use our platform.
• Mentor and learn: Share your knowledge with the team and continuously explore new technologies in the Big Data and cloud-native landscape.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in software development, with a strong proficiency in writing, testing and deploying production-grade code in Go. We value your skill and expertise over a specific number of years.
• Solid experience with Kubernetes in a production environment. If you have experience or a strong interest in developing Kubernetes operators/controllers, that's a huge plus!
• A passion for building great products. Experience with Big Data technologies (like Kafka, Trino, Spark, etc.) is beneficial, but we believe a talented engineer can learn a new domain.
• A collaborative spirit and clear communication skills. You thrive in a team environment where ideas are shared openly.
• A calm and effective approach to troubleshooting. You are comfortable diagnosing and resolving issues in complex, live systems.
• Fluency in English is required. Fluency in German is an advantage.
