Sven Bornemann to be Chairman of the Executive Board of the European netID Foundation

Montabaur, May 30, 2018. From AGOF to the European netID Foundation: On August 1, 2018, Sven Bornemann (53) will become Chairman of the Executive Board of the European netID Foundation, having previously been Managing Director of AGOF Services GmbH. He will thus be responsible for the operating business of the Foundation, which was established in March 2018 by Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, ProSiebenSat.1 and United Internet. The European netID Foundation is an independent entity that aims to help internet services from all industries comply with the new European data protection regulation. To this end, it has created the netID open log-in standard.

“I am looking forward to taking on the management of the European netID Foundation soon. The digital industry in Germany and Europe is faced with enormous challenges. netID is an outstanding offer for the digital industry and users of digital services to combine the required data protection with transparent and user-friendly handling. This is the high bar that the European netID Foundation has set for itself,” says Sven Bornemann.

“We are delighted to have Sven Bornemann on board. He is an experienced digital expert, and as the former Managing Director of AGOF he is completely familiar with the digital requirements and data management of businesses from various industries,” says Jan Oetjen, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the European netID Foundation.

Sven Bornemann has a degree in business informatics and has been Managing Director of AGOF Services GmbH for the last three years. As well as the operational implementation of studies by Arbeitsgemeinschaft Online Forschung (Working Group for Online Media Research, AGOF), his duties focused on the enhancement of AGOF’s range of services. AGOF is an affiliation of leading online marketers in Germany. Data from AGOF provide crucial insights into the use of digital media and thus serve as a reference for the media planning of IP-based internet services in Germany.

Sven Bornemann began his career at Bertelsmann Media Systems. He then became CEO of Concept! AG and later OgilvyInteractive Germany. His other posts included Adconion Media Group, Smarthouse Media/Axel Springer SE and vwd group AG.

The open log-in standard netID will launch shortly after Sven Bornemann joins in summer. The initiators of the Foundation, Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, ProSiebenSat.1 and United Internet with its GMX and WEB.DE brands, reach a total of around 50 million internet users.
